Véronique Janssen

Véronique Janssen holds a Master of Arts and Sciences from Maastricht University, where she completed her thesis on the mind–body relationship and the Meisner acting method, Decentering, Centering, Acting. Her pre-thesis, Action in Acting, laid the groundwork for her interdisciplinary approach to movement, expression and human functioning.

Her professional background spans theatre, opera, dance and education. She worked as a stage manager and assistant director in opera, and created music-theatre and dance productions with her own company as a choreographer, dancer, director and performer. She also led workshops in schools, provided acting training for businesses, and developed her own method, Sound, Colour and Movement. She taught this method to children aged 4–12 at Teatro de la Reina in Santiago, Chile.

Her movement background includes Vaganova classical ballet, the dance techniques of Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham, and advanced studies in directing and acting at Rutgers University. She also explored the movement methodology of Loyd Williamson.

From 2001 to 2003, she trained in Somatic Movement Training and Therapy, Somatic Dance Education and Contact Improvisation, including work with Nancy Stark Smith. She subsequently expanded her expertise through a range of approaches to personal development and healing, including Core Transformation, DNA Theta Healing and Reiki, completing training as a Reiki Master.

Alongside her somatic and artistic work, she trained in Ashtanga Yoga (Mysore), Kundalini Yoga Practitioner Level 1 and Vinyasa Yoga. She is a certified yoga instructor. Her musical background also includes studies at an anthroposophical music academy, and she offers piano lessons.

Today, Véronique integrates her longstanding experience in the arts, somatic practice and awareness-based development into an individualised, tailor-made approach. She offers individual sessions, workshops, group classes and training in her own method, Sound, Colour and Movement. She also teaches yoga and movement, gives piano lessons, and offers sessions incorporating approaches such as Pilates, yoga, Tai Chi and Tibetan techniques.

Her work focuses on developing body awareness, inner stability and a healthy balance of strength, helping people find greater balance within themselves and in relation to their environment. Rather than relying on a fixed technique, she responds to the needs of each individual or specific group. Individual sessions, workshops, training programmes and group classes are tailored to the participants, their group dynamics and the aims of the work.
